Special Programs
Terry Fox Run
Each year the entire school, Preschool to Grade 12, participates in various Terry Fox fundraising activities as well as our school-wide Run/Walk/Jog event, and each year the Armbrae community raises significant funds for this amazing cause.
Youth Running Series
The Youth Running Series is a province-wide running race series consisting of 10 races over the Spring and Fall, where children have a chance to better their personal times and race finishes or compete against others for podium finishes. This series rewards participation as well as competition. Armbrae students have been participating since 2010. In 2015, we placed in the top 5 schools for participation in the province. We also have had many of our students place on the podium in these races.
Blue Nose Marathon Youth Run
Each spring, Armbrae students start training using the Kids Run Club Learn to Run program. The aim of this program is to develop a love for running as well increase fitness with various personalized running related goals. Twice weekly, from March to May, the children use the Halifax Urban Greenway Trail (located just seconds away from Armbrae) to run, walk, laugh and enjoy the wonderful sport of running. On the long weekend in May, we meet as a school for the Blue Nose International Marathon Youth Run (2 or 4km fun run) and the children run on the streets of downtown Halifax to realize their running goals. It is an amazing journey, a student favourite!
