Armbrae Academy's beautiful new 11,000 square foot Arts, Athletics, and Recreation Centre (AARC) was completed in July 2008. Construction was achieved in record time as ground breaking was only on November 20th, 2007. The building was constructed by Dora Construction and designed by architect Mike Harvey.

The Grand Opening Ceremony was held on Friday, September 5th. See the CTV coverage here.

Our new facility will act as more than a venue for sports teams – it has purposely been designed to accommodate the school’s interest in the arts and thought leadership – from supporting its music and drama clubs, to celebrating and hosting cultural and academic achievement events. The facility will be available for students, their families and the broader community, as well as social gatherings, exhibitions, and prominent guest speaker lectures (e.g. this will enable the popular “Dialogue” series, which was inaugurated in partnership with King's College in the Spring of 2007, to also be hosted at Armbrae).

Click here for a slide show of the construction from start to just before March Break, including a view inside the walls. There are 113 photos and, depending on the browser you use, there may be more than one page of photos.

2012 John Stone Award
Armbrae Academy is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2012 John Stone Award. The award was established in 2010 to recognize the qualities of humanity, empathy, ethics, respect for the dignity of others and/or service to others. Students apply for the award by presenting a case for a humanitarian leadership opportunity. This could be through an existing organization, or a project of their own design. This year's winner is Stephanie Robertson-Kempton, a Grade 11 student who feels passionately about supporting the Cambodia Arts and Scholarship Foundation. Stephanie's project will aid in the education of girls and young women who are typically excluded from educational opportunities.
